PhD Project
Photo-switchable molecules have widespread applications ranging from everyday uses in the form of photosensitive glasses to cancer treatment. A central part of PhInt is the didactic reconstruction of the research results and their communication to pupils of secondary schools and the general public.
This reconstruction will result in the development of (analogue) experiments for student labs, teaching materials and exhibits for Deutsches Optisches Museum (D.O.M.). First, the central and most important aspects and findings of the individual research projects will be identified in close cooperation with the corresponding doctoral students. This will serve as the base for the development of materials that connect the research of PhInt to its applications in everyday life as well as the school curricula for secondary schools. In ordert o include the learner’s perspective the materials will then be tested in the student lab of the Research Group Teaching Methology in Physics and Astronomy at FSU Jena. Finally, the dissemination in the form of open educational resources and teacher training courses will take place. The developed materials will make the research of PhInt accessible and understandable for a widespread audience while still maintaining the scientific perspective and correctness.
Additionally, RP12 will assist the individual doctoral students in developing a museum exhibit for D.O.M. of their projects by giving methodical and didactic input.
